He Leads me

 

The Lord is my Shepherd;
I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.
Psalms 23:1-3 NKJV

Isn’t it wonderful that God has not allowed us to live and walk aimlessly? By God’s grace, we are not just wandering on the face of the earth. Do you know that you don’t have to have it all figured out all the time, contrary to popular opinion? Don’t get me wrong, it is crucial to plan. However, imagine how easy it would be to trust in God’s leading! So that in every plan or path you take, there is no second-guessing or being at the crossroads with God leading us.

Psalm 23 is a lovely reminder that God has promised He will never leave you nor forsake you, even in the deepest, darkest valley. (Deutronomy 31:8 NIV) God has promised to be our ever-faithful Shepherd.

To be led by God, you must be part of the flock!

When David wrote this Psalm, he was sharing from his own experience as a shepherd boy tending his father’s sheep. I imagine that David had only this responsibility: to guide, grow, feed, and defend his father’s sheep.  Similarly, if we are to experience the care and leadership of the Great Shepherd, we have to belong to the household of faith.

This starts by inviting Jesus Christ into our lives. Confessing Him as Lord over our lives, believing in Him, and accepting Him as Lord of our lives.

Trust the Shepherd

Psalms 95:7-8 NKJV says; for He is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care. Today, if only you would hear his voice, “Do not harden your hearts as you did at Meribah.”

May we desire to have the Lord Jesus Christ as the Lord over our lives.  He wishes to order your every step once we surrender to Him. ( The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord -Psalms 37:23 KJV)

After accepting the Lord Jesus into our lives, we must then trust Him to lead us into green pastures. To lead us beside still waters. We must continue to trust in Him even in the valley of the shadow of death. I’m confident that we will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living when we choose to trust Him in every matter in our lives (Psalm 27:13 NKJV).

Learn the Shepherd’s voice.

For God to lead us, we must distinctly know His voice. This comes from a place of daily experience, fellowship, and communion with Him and learning how He speaks to us as individuals! By reading the Bible and listening to God in prayer, we learn His voice and how He speaks. John 10: 27

Why is it so important to know His voice? It’s because other people will masquerade as the Great Shepherd when in fact they are wolves.  We must know when it’s time to run from voices that aren’t from God. Be eager to hear and know the Lord’s voice over every matter in your life. God longs to lead us and to take care of us. Isaiah 40 : 11

In the midst of so many voices and opinions, may the voice of the shepherd mask every other voice in Jesus’ name. The link below about hearing the Voice of the Lord will help you better understand and know more about the Voice of the Lord.

He Knows How Best to Lead Us.

We must trust the Great Shepherd! God has good plans for us, plans to prosper us and not to harm us; plans to give us a future and hope. Jeremiah 29:11.

Don’t be the passenger who is busy giving directions while Jesus Christ is at the wheel! He knows when you are in need, and He therefore promises us that we will not be in want. God provides for our every need even before we ask! He makes you and me lie down in green pastures. Even when we are busy comparing and thinking that other people’s grass is greener, He knows what’s best for us!

He knows how best to lead us! God brings stillness and calmness in the midst of so much noise in our lives, so trust God! Lean not on past experiences and strategies. (Proverbs 3:5-6 NKJV)

Our Lord Jesus Christ knows when we need healing and restoration of our soul, spirit, and body, so today, let us allow Him to lead us. Is there a matter that is too big or too complex for our God? Absolutely none! So simply rest in the Lord. Most importantly, we have the Holy Spirit, who is our helper, teaching us all things and guiding us in all truth.

Prayer for Today

Lord, today I acknowledge that you are my Great Shepherd. Lead me and guide me today. Order my steps unto righteousness. Help me to avoid the counsel of the ungodly, the path of sinners, and the seat of the wicked. Lead me to make the right choices today. Direct me to your purposes concerning my life. Help me recognize your voice amid the other confusing voices. I surrender my will to you that you may lead me in all my ways.
